I'm a sophomore studying industrial engineering and have always been told I have great people skills. I have studied calculus 1, 2, and 3, and linear algebra at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am also proficient in high school geometry, algebra, and pre-calculus. My teaching assistants have always been a huge help for me and I would love to do the same for others. I keep up with my skills as I use math in many of my other classes.
A lover of math since grade school, I have been tutoring Geometry for over 6 years. I have been a math teacher since 2001. I love Geometry and teach it frequently. I visualize graphs, proofs, and angles with clarity and good lessons. I am very clear and understanding. I oftyen ask, "can you show me an example?" "Why is this expression solved this way?" to get participation and engagement.
I have had about 2 years experience tutoring students in the Geometry questions of the ACT. Whether the questions are about parallel lines with a transversal cutting them into various types of angles, the Pythagorean Theorem to find the sides of triangles, the equation of a circle, or similar vs. congruent shapes and their sides or angles, I am able to guide my students to the correct answers. Geometry requires more visual skills, and I am able to tap into those strengths of most students by showing them how a concept works. However, all of these concepts are also based on logic, hence the use of proofs in many of these classes. If a student understands the logic better than the visual, I can guide them to understand the concepts that way. This subject now paves the way for me to help all of my students from Prealgebra through Calculus!

From a young age, I have always been passionate about Mathematics, especially Geometry. In fact, I wrote my college essay on the many ways I use Geometry in my daily life. It was my favorite subject all through middle and high school. I love solving problems and analyzing shapes. In high school, I earned A's in all my math classes and scored well on my exams. I have finished studying Geometry in school and have had 2 years experience in teaching the subject to freshman and sophomores in high school. I currently tutor elementary and middle school students in math.

Students can open themselves up to taking risks, which are crucial to learning, when they are taught to accept their mistakes and view struggle as a chance for improvement. This is true for all learners. The ability to make mistakes freely and the time to reflect are crucial components of learning in general and are often lacking in math classes. We are depriving kids of their full potential if we let them think that their errors are anything else than teaching opportunities.

I fell in love with Math almost 20 years ago.
