Rhonda CawthornLouisville, KYAward Winning English Prof Makes Writing Easy
I taught grammar for 15 years at various universities in the United States. From my childhood until, finally, college--when I finally was exposed to very high caliber English professors that knew their stuff and beyond and prided themselves on their hard work to do so, I asked my professor to help me with this grammar class--to bloody my papers, meet with me after class--to please take the time my teachers had never taken to help me yet. And she certainly did. After that class, I still needed to know every part of sentences and how they work and all the more elusive-sounding clauses and when and when not to use a comma, and I was still a little rusty on who and whom. I poured over every advanced grammar book I could. None of them explained the English sentence, its parts, and how they work in a way that I knew to be 100% correct until i discovered The Oxford English Grammar. I went through that book cover to cover, closed the cover, opened it again. I promised I would know these rules like I knew the veiny backs of my own hands. Now I do-- and I give students what my teachers didn't give me in my youth-- understanding of how sentences work and how to use them to make your most urgent dreams come true --in extremis--the fast, easy, and FUN way.
