PhD Level Tech-Inspired Teacher and Multimedia Specialist

My emphasis is on a dialogue-driven and media-enriched practice toward the language. This establishes a common and confident ground for inspirational English learning. The goal is to address critical, daunting issues that often derail students’ track toward their essay, script writing, accent issue, conversation or any related English challenge. For example, I use a customized curriculum addressing frequently requested themes, as creativity, personal style, grammar, punctuation, diction, syntax, and idea-generation. Furthermore, students have favorably reviewed my unique usage of audio monitoring software during online lessons to help approximate accent issues between different languages. Students obtain a repository of audio files during each lesson to be used for actively evaluating individual expression while waiting in line, traffic, and during breaks. My multimedia approach that coordinates sound, visual, and online resource, as Merriam-Webster and Google Earth, connects to the global, international significance of the language. I have facilitated learning for diverse age levels, as children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. I have years of experience teaching ESL/English at public and private educational settings, including private school, university, library, and online web-conference. A dedicated PhD for language and E-Learning, I am a member of the Association for Language Learning, located in Leicester, UK.

I studied history throughout my entire college career. I was exposed to a vast selection of history courses that impacted me greatly. I focused exclusively on the U.S. from the migration of Native American settlements until the end of Nixon's term and Southeast Asia from Spanish colonization in the Philippines until the Fall of Saigon. I am also well versed in the history of the Soviet Union and Nazi medical practices during that time including the Nuremberg trials. All of my history courses included having extensive knowledge of English and grammar skills. I am proficient in writing research papers, novel papers, and creative writing. I can help out students with skills in active reading and note taking. Many struggle to pull out important information because they get lost in the details. I have experience with writing biographies and autobiographies as well. I have a keen eye for detail and enjoy teaching students how to navigate dense material. There are many uncommon terms, irregular word usage, and Old English references that may be challenging for students to grasp. My main take away I want my students to have is developing critical thinking skills that last throughout their academic career. As a tutor, I am able to create an enjoyable learning environment that fosters absorption of important information while maintaining positivity and patience. Everyone has a different learning style and should never feel inadequate if they need some extra help!

Ever since I was a young child, I have always been passionate about writing and literature. Anything related to English was my favorite since it was what I was best at. I love to read books and short stories, write poems and essays and analyze different works of literature. Throughout high school, I received A’s for all my English-related courses and achieved a 3 on both final exams for Advanced Placement English Language and Composition and Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition. Being the daughter of two immigrant Spanish-speaking parents and witnessing them work hard to learn English, I understand the struggles that come from learning a completely different language. I also know what it is like to need extra help with some academic subjects, as someone who has always struggled with grasping certain information myself. Because of this, I'm passionate about seeing others succeed and I look forward to assisting individuals in learning to love English while overcoming their challenges. Overall, I have personal experience participating with children k-12. ‌I‌ ‌have‌ ‌had the opportunity to work with students from my middle school and high school to assist them in their academic advancements by tutoring them after school, helping with homework assignments, and walking them through problems during class. Likewise, I have engaged with toddlers in a home setting, ensuring a safe, clean environment while including them in interactive learning activities. For example, I would help them sound out words, practice skills - like coloring, and build reading and talking proficiency.

I have a passion for English, especially within the realm of writing essays, and would love to help others write theirs out. I will read their essays, and will let them know which parts are good , and which parts could be better by giving them a few helpful tips. Tips such as correct spelling, grammar and in some cases, better word choices. I can also aid them in citing sources if that need does come up by giving them a few websites that can help generate any source whether physical or online into any format that is required. I've had many experiences within the realm of being a peer reviewer, and I am able to peer review any essays or writing papers if a student does wish to have me peer review such work. In terms of peer review, I have had quite an extensive amount of experience in peer reviewing many of my fellow classmates' written work, and in some cases, even gave them a letter grade, explaining to my instructors why they deserved that grade. This has been experienced in a couple of my history classes, and in my history writing classes that I have taken while I was attending UC-Irvine. I had this one professor for both my winter and my spring quarter classes, and every time we turned in our physical hard copies of our written essays, we would peer review them, and give them a letter grade based on various factors. These factors include how much information has been given, and the clarity of the papers that have been written and turned in. I had another history writing course, and peer reviewing for those essays were a lot more involved. We were handed a separate sheet of paper where we would take notes regarding the other classmates' paper and we'd give critiques or give credit wherever and whenever critiques or credits were to be placed. We'd also write helpful tidbits on those papers as well.
