Andrew Primous
Evanston, IL

Multi-talented grad student; Teaching students to love writing one session at a time.

I am a top of the line Creative Writing coach. I give feedback, tips, mentorship, and more than all else will teach you how to write consistently, and how to entertain an audience. If you are someone who pictures themselves one day creating music or cinematic experiences on the grandest stage of all I am the tutor for you. I can cater my lesson plans to any age and experience level I have taught from middle school all the way to M.F.A students. My goal is to help creatives struggling to manifest their inner artist. I am an M.F.A student from SIUC with a lot of experience and a lot of connections and opportunities, who can play both as a tutor and a networker for talented writers. I myself have written over 1000 pages in my first year of grad school while maintaining a part time job, and being a full time student. I can take that idea for a book that you have been mulling over for the past decade, and bring it to life within months. In my course there are several options of focus-- they are as follows; Story structure(s), character structure, good vs bad dialogue, Defeating Writer's Block, writing for TV, writing for feature film, writing for short film, Genre accuracy, songwriting, and how to speak with executives. Before meeting we will discuss what you are most interested in learning, and how it is best to go about learning them. No matter your current level or your artistic field. If you want to begin to professionalize your craft, please reach out and make you the best writer you can be.

Benjamin Pranger

Creative Songwriting Screenwriter & Guitar-playing Pianist with The Muse on stand-by

A graduate of Johns Hopkins University's prestigious Krieger School of Arts and Sciences Program in Film and Media Studies, I taught myself to write songs while earning a degree focused in screenwriting and other forms of creative writing. In the ensuing twenty years I have written hundreds of songs on my own and collaborated on hundreds more, many published and released on various independent labels, along with myriad experiences in screenwriting, poetry, prose, direction, videography, musical performance, production and studio session work. I now teach guitar, piano and songwriting at a music company in Nashville and am developing my own songwriting and production business called SongCycle. Current freelance projects include a book-to-film screenplay adaptation for a noted Atlanta production company and upcoming musical releases. My extensive experience includes charting albums of my own composition, a produced screenplay, a Film Composer credit, videography work with Lucinda Williams, Brandi Carlile, Steve Earle and much more. Whether acting as songwriter, screenwriter, prose writer, poet, director, videographer, editor or tutor, it is a writer's overall aesthetic sensibility that permeates, with special attention paid to story structure, framing, syntax, linguistic reference, poetic metaphor, editing, character development and world-building.

A Way With Words: Writing and Literature Tutoring

Examples of My Creative Writing: https://www.press53.com/issue-31-table-of-contents/#jacob-allgeier https://www.eckleburg.org/poetry-aoyagi-sushi/ My background revolves around creative writing and literature, supported by a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing and extensive experience in publishing. This blend of academic learning and hands-on industry experience uniquely qualifies me for the role of creative writing tutor. I've been writing for as long as I can remember, having authored multiple novels and been published in respected literary journals. During my time at Open Road Integrated Media as an acquisitions editor and executive assistant, I developed a keen eye for spotting promising literary works, sharpened my editing skills, and built strong relationships with authors and clients. My role as a contracts assistant at Penguin Random House further polished my ability to communicate effectively and manage complex projects. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of storytelling techniques, narrative structure, and the ins and outs of the publishing world, all of which I'm excited to share with aspiring writers. Combined with my genuine passion for mentoring and coaching, as demonstrated by my pursuit of certifications in health coaching and crisis intervention, I'm confident in my ability to inspire and guide students to unleash their creative potential and excel in their writing pursuits.
