I currently serve as a Freshman Mentor, a program my university offers where upperclassmen will teach 1-2 freshmen per academic semester. I dedicate portions of time to check-in and guide my freshmen to ensure that they succeed as well. I want them to know that they are supported and encouraged throughout their college experience. I greatly encourage them to pursue their careers and offered many resources and personal stories to help guide them. My main goal is to remind them that asking for help will not hurt. Yes, it may seem scary or even intimidating, but it is essential to receive proper guidance.
