Chemistry Mentor, USNCO Finalist, Chemistry Excellence Award Recipient

At the rigorous Center for Advanced Studies at Wheeler High School, I have successfully completed both AP Chemistry and Organic Chemistry 1 and 2, earning an A+ in all three classes. In addition to receiving a "5" on the AP Chemistry Exam, I am deeply passionate about Chemistry and participate in activities outside of school, such as competing in the US National Chemistry Olympiad, and earning the prestigious "finalist" position out of over 100 highly qualified representatives from Georgia. I have 2+ years of previous tutoring experience in Organic and inorganic chemistry coupled with over 300 classes taught, so I already know what types of teaching styles and practice problems help students understand the concepts and not simply memorize the content. I am also the recipient of the Cobb County Chemistry Excellence Award, a highly coveted award given to only 2 high schoolers out of 15 high schools who demonstrate exceptional curiosity and intellect in the field of Chemistry. Having taken these courses recently, I bring a different perspective on how to master the content of the class that other students can relate to better. Chemistry is all conceptual, which many people realize too late. Whether you are looking to get an A in your Chemistry class or are interested in participating in high-level chemistry competitions, I am confident I can bring you to where you are looking for.

Ph.D. Chemistry Tutor

I have a natural aptitude for chemistry and an innate ability to make complex concepts accessible for most anyone. I was selected as a tutor for the Valdosta State University Chemistry department due to my professors seeing me excelling at chemistry and helping fellow students to do the same. I taught one year of high school science after graduating with my BS and enjoyed being in the classroom. The experience of watching students who thought science was boring become fascinated by what the were learning was especially rewarding. I left the classroom to continue my own education and entered the graduate program at Auburn University. After a year of teaching freshman chemistry laboratory classes, I was selected to teach senior inorganic laboratory classes due, again, to my mastery of the subject and the ability to make it accessible to young learners. I continued to tutor throughout my graduate and post-doctoral career before leaving science to start a patient advocacy organization for families affected by hereditary colon cancer. I again found myself explaining complex medical terms and surgical procedures to lay people and eventually led the development of patient-friendly educational resources. Most recently, I worked as a subject matter expert for the Electric Power Research Institute, again developing chemistry educational resources for new employees. I truly feel it is a gift to be able to help learners understand the complex field of chemistry and hope to be able to share that gift with you.
