Computer Science/Coding Professional

I've worked in the Computer Science industry for five years with C#/.NET being my main language of choice, although I also have proficiency in Java, Javascript, and other languages. I've received a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science at Neumont College of Computer Science, a school specifically dedicated to teaching coding and computer science concepts. While attending school, I spent more than half my time as an Academic Coach, gaining skills for teaching that I'd carry with me into my professional life. During my work experience programming, I've managed multiple teams of employees and students, assisting them with the knowledge they needed to complete the tasks outlined for them. Each person always has a different level of base knowledge, with some knowing basically nothing about coding while others have a good handful of knowledge under their belt. Regardless of skill level, assisting people with their programming journey is something I not only have plenty of experience in, but is also something I am extremely passionate about. Many people have a variety of different reasons for why they might want to learn to code. It might just be a potential hobby, needed for a passion project, or even could be specifically for employment reasons. I enjoy learning about the reasons why people are interested in programming, as that lets me tailor their learning experience specifically to them.

Inspiring Guitar Lessons with a talented, versatile Guitarist, CU Alumna, and devoted music nerd

I am a true music nerd, and I teach guitar in a variety of diverse styles such as Rock, Jazz, Blues, Pop, and Latin/Bossa Nova. I have been playing music for over 20 years and have performed at local clubs, concert halls, and private events. I studied Guitar Performance at the University of Colorado with an emphasis on Popular and Jazz styles, and I have a Classical background on the Piano (training under the esteemed Suzuki Method). I have a deep appreciation for many musical styles and love sharing this passion with my students! My own outstanding teachers have inspired me to become an educator myself and pass along some key wisdom and musical tools. I am committed to developing your musicianship, but I also want us to be able to laugh at our mistakes, have fun, not take our egos so seriously, and cultivate a sense of humanity through music. Similarly, while there is absolutely a place for traditional music fundamentals, there is an equally important place for creative expression and imagination. In your guitar lessons with me, I will simplify difficult musical material for you and introduce you to new concepts in a non-intimidating way. We will also work on training your EARS so that you can better hear melodies, chords, rhythms – one of the most crucial aspects of musical learning. I hope to boost your self-confidence by fostering your strengths and showing you how to tackle your weaknesses. Finally, I would love to help you craft your OWN distinctive style and standout musical identity while you have fun exploring the guitar!

Master of English Rhetoric and Composition, taught English writing at the university for two years

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I am highly interested in being an essay writing tutor for Lessonpal. I love collaborating with people through writing, and I love helping people become the best writers they can be. During my Rhetoric and Composition Master’s program, I was a graduate teaching assistant for English 101 and 102. As a graduate teaching assistant, I taught six classes of English writing (from my own syllabi), where I saw numerous issues in student writing. I worked with my students one on one to help them fix their writing by going into their shared Google Drive documents and heavily editing and revising their work through comments and suggestions. Throughout all six classes that I taught, I prioritized giving my students individualized attention after every essay they turned so that they could learn from their mistakes and become stronger writers with every assignment. While I was helping my own students with their writing, I was also working with my cohort outside of class. We would have video calls from eight at night until two in the morning where we revised and edited each other's papers to ensure that we were producing high quality work for our professors. Through collaboration with my peers, we helped each other grow as writers, editors, and thinkers. We pushed each other and supported each other to become the best we could be, and I would love to take these skills and bring them to others through Lessonpal. From my experiences of teaching and being a student, I know that writing takes individualized attention. Everyone is at a different place in their writing, and everyone needs help with different things. However, regardless of the challenges that people face in their writing, I am confident that I have the skills, experience, and passion for writing, editing, and interpersonal collaboration to help others become the best writers they can be.

Art Tutor

As an art tutor, I bring a wealth of expertise and a passion that has been honed over the past ten years of dedicated study. My journey into the world of art ignited a profound enthusiasm within me, propelling my practice towards exploring the captivating intersections of art, technology, and science. I have made it my mission to convey vital information that may otherwise be challenging to grasp for the general public, presenting it in a captivating and intuitive manner. As a multidisciplinary time-based artist, I am well-versed in utilizing a diverse range of mediums to breathe life into my projects. While my practice has recently leaned towards the digital realm, employing 3D programs and generative applications, I am adaptable and embrace whichever medium is necessary to bring my ideas to fruition. Lately, my focus has centered on projection art and interactive installations, harnessing the power of technology to create immersive and engaging experiences. One of my greatest strengths lies in my comprehensive understanding of digital art as a whole. Even when encountering new software or techniques, I quickly familiarize myself with them. In the ever-evolving digital landscape, it is crucial to stay updated and equipped to guide our students in making valuable contributions that are both timely and personally fulfilling. When teaching, I firmly believe in establishing a strong foundation. Regardless of the level of expertise, it is essential for students to grasp the basics—the elements and principles of art—consistently and comprehensively. As an educator, I ensure that my students gain access to a solid understanding of these fundamental concepts, enabling them to continue their growth even beyond our tutoring sessions. The building blocks of artistic knowledge are pivotal. My teaching approach is centered around fostering a fun and intuitive learning environment. Whatever your art goals I'll meet you there!
