In total, I have 6 years of experience in teaching biological subjects and conveying scientific concepts.
I graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor's of Science in Interdisciplinary Biology from Stony Brook University (SBU). Throughout my undergraduate career, I was a teaching assistant for the Introductory Biology Laboratories, where I specialized in providing comprehensive lessons with new experiments every week, including topics ranging from collecting data accurately to statistical analysis to academic literature review. It was during this experience where I learned how to tailor my teaching approach to appropriately accommodate for every student I was responsible for educating, to ensure everyone had a solid understanding of what was being taught.
I was also a Resident Assistant, and an officer of the Residence Hall Association at SBU, which among other responsibilities, included having educational programs and initiatives in the residential dorms on campus. From hosting these programs and launching these initiatives, I have learned how to effectively communicate ideas without creating room for confusion in my presentations.
I believe students should choose me as their Biology tutor because I would be able to adapt to their learning style and fit their needs while ensuring they never feel lost in the content. As topics in Biology can become overwhelming quickly, I would strive to give meaningful breakdowns of large, overreaching concepts as well. I see teaching as an effort to make students confident in what they are learning, and that is what I believe I would achieve with who I tutor.
