Hi! My name is Ellen, and I currently live in New York City. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I went on to get a Master’s in Biochemistry and M... olecular Biology from Johns Hopkins University.
Having graduated from Hopkins with a 4.0 GPA, I studied for the MCAT and scored 90%+ percentile. Currently, I am in Clinical Research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where I specialize in cancer genetics. All of this probably sounds super intense, and while I take academics and research very seriously, I also know the importance of balance. I’ve gone through multiple trial and error to both study and enjoy hobbies and other passions.
Outside of the science realm, I am a Photographer and Content Creator. I love film photography and working with my favorite brands. I guess I would consider myself as an artsy scientist.
I started tutoring students because I know how difficult and stressful studying can be. Figuring out what kind of learner and test-taker is not explicitly taught at school. So I love working with students on finding the best way to learn topics and pinpointing weaknesses so that studying doesn’t become a source of defeat but rather a source of a motivation to become a stronger and more resilient student. I find that implementing visual aids to studying is key. I like to provide my students with multiple methods of learning and create an open and safe environment for them to ask questions and engage in active learning.
