Paola DiazPalmdale, CAAffordable Anatomy Teacher With B.S. in Human Medicine
I have recently graduated from the University of California, Davis with a bachelors of science in neurobiology, physiology and behavior. One of the last courses I took during my time was the gross human anatomy lecture and associated human anatomy cadaver lab. These courses were modeled after the anatomy courses offered at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine, and the professors of the School of Medicine also instructed the undergraduate course that I took. While in high school, I also studied human anatomy which gave me the basic knowledge and tools to succeed at the college level.
When learning anatomy, it is important to understand the roots, prefixes, and suffixes of the terminology but it is also important to understand the clinical correlates associated with each region of the body; therefore, the information from the course can be utilized in real life. This transforms anatomy from a curriculum that is simply memorized to one that can be understood and applied in different scenarios. I have learned anatomy both in systemic and regional approaches. Depending on the student's preferences and learning style, lessons will be modified to fit their needs. Lessons will always maintain the growth mindset and students will be given tools to help with future learning endeavors.
