Teacher, Tutor, Lifelong Learner

Hello! My name is Brett Chosewood, and I am an English and Language Arts teacher from Georgia in the United States. I have taught both locally and abroad (in countries such as China, Dubai, and Mexico) for over twelve years. In addition, I also have extensive experience in writing, editing, and communication. My education includes a Bachelor’s in English and a Master’s in English Education (Teaching), both obtained from Piedmont College. I am also currently pursuing a PhD in English Composition from Old Dominion University. I love teaching and tutoring because I get to work with students to meet their individual needs. Each student is unique, and I truly love helping my students achieve their goals. I want to be a valuable resource in the lives of those I help, using my experience as a student and as a teacher. Nothing makes me feel prouder than seeing my students succeed. They teach me as much as I teach them. My style of teaching involves building a strong rapport with my students, determining their individual needs, and tailoring my sessions with them to meet those needs. I try to get feedback from and assess students regularly to ensure they are understanding lesson concepts and progressing appropriately. My greatest accomplishment was developing the entire English curriculum for a high school in Sichuan, China. I taught there for a year, and when I began my job, there was no curriculum. I assessed the needs of the students, developed the curriculum for ESL and Literature, and set appropriate bench parts. The result was that all students saw a significant increase in their TOEFL scores. My desire is to bring the same effort and success to your students!

ACT & Calculus Tutoring

I have a well established bio in act prep work. I was a well established student from lower grade school until high school. Seldom did I make below a 3.5 gpa at anytime. I scored a 26 on the ACT my first go around. My second and improved score was a 28 back when I was ascending to attend college while in high school. I finished No. 3 in a closs of about 82 students. I believe both my math scores were 26 and 28 or both 28 scores. I still have a copy of my ACT score pamphlet where i scored the 28 as proof. While in college studying mechanical engineering I worked with tutor doctor for 9 months where my main client study was ACT score improvement. I have tutored Math at a college level and have gained more wisdom about mathematical strategies that help to attain a skill set to solve about any math problem. You just have to be aware and attentive. Study and become proficient at the style of math you are facing. Then when problems change the flow of the mind and brain will change. You will be able to better comprehend strategy to get accurate answers in a noted amount of time. I believe I am capable of helping you improve. I scored the highest on the English and Reading parts of the ACT. I am well ready to prepare you to excel. Science is the most difficult part and was possibly my lowest score but I still succeeded above a 24 each time on this part. I am older and smarter and have a college degree now. I can do much for you if you allow me to be a friend and teach you how to excel in standardized tests.
