English is a notoriously difficult language with more exceptions than rules. Having spent my entire life speaking it and my entire education studying it, I am more than familiar with all of its little... ins and outs. The language used in academic testing such as the College Board AP exams is often misleading and hard to understand. This makes answering the questions almost impossible. I am routinely fascniated by the tricks English plays and have made it my duty to pick out the exact relationships between each object, subject, verb, and more of each sentence. Hi there! My name is Jaclyn and I live in Los Angeles, CA. I went to San Diego State University where I achieved my Bachelor's Degree in Comparative Literature in 3 years! I was able to do this becaus... e of the diligence of both myself and my high school teachers. They prepared me for the AP exams so that I could go into my freshman year of college with more credits than most. Through my experience as a mentor to a couple younger students, I learned it was not just the perseverance of my teachers which led to my success. It was the relationships they cultivated with me and my willingness to learn which propelled me forward. Teaching, tutoring, mentoring--all of these are dependent on there being trust on both sides. The only goal is helping the student reach a place where they can take charge of their own learning, to get back on track. I want to do just that--help struggling students regain their confidence in themselves and truly understand what they are reading and writing, so they can go on never fearing that their words might be mistaken. My favorite thing in the world is reading, always has been and always will be. This passion for being transported to another world made it easy to pick a major and eventually to find a calling. With reading comes profiency in writing. Everything I've read charges up my creativity and inspires me to no end. Writing becomes an outlet and a challenge, something to turn the gears in my head and keep me busy. But the cherry on top of these interests is editing.
