Hi! My name is Julie and I absolutely love teaching and I have been a teacher for over 30 years!! This past year I was a private tutor for individual students and I've been tutoring small groups of ... students online as well. I have found this work to be incredibly rewarding, challenging, and fun! My favorite part about tutoring is when I make connections with my students and they are willing to take risks in my class. I meet students "where they are" in their learning and scaffold their lessons in order for them to understand concepts more easily. I love laughing with my students and maintaining a light-hearted atmosphere. I also take my job very seriously. When a child is having trouble understanding the material, I quickly try a variety of methods to help facilitate their learning. I taught at Aspen Elementary School in grades one through six for 29 years, and gifted and talented children for five years. My teaching focused on creative and critical thinking skills, enrichment activities in all subject areas, and STEM activities. My background includes teaching English as a Second Language to adults and teaching children with learning disabilities.
