About
Hi! My name is Urvashi Jariwala! For years, I've always had a desire to help others. To my family, I am someone who is pursuing a difficult degree to make a difference, and to my friends, I am a suppo... rtive shoulder to lean on when life gets tough. To me, though, I am someone who, like anyone else, is trying to find my path in this confusing world, and hopefully lift the spirits of others who also may be struggling.
Throughout my life, I transformed this desire as a direction for my life. I decided to pursue a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at University of Central Florida in order to find ways to improve other's lives through research. Not only that, but through my club Knights for Refugee Medical Relief, I volunteered as a tutor for kids and created and taught lessons in Math, Reading, and Science. I also was recently hired as a Peer Mentor for my college where I am tasked with providing support to my underclassmen.
My main objective as a tutor is not only to have students feel confident in their academics, but to feel excited about learning. When something, especially things like science, feel difficult, it's easy to just say "It's not for me." While science may not be everyone's passion like for me, I don't want others to completely shut down a potential avenue to learn something new. We all are learning constantly, even if we don't realize it. The important thing to make even the most difficult of things not feel so bad is to revel in the excitement that the act of learning. Even if they don't use the knowledge gained from these subjects, I would feel satisfied if they used the skills gained instead.read more
