I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. After graduating from Rockhurst High School in 2002, I moved to Chicago to attend Columbia College in 2003. I graduated in 2007 from Columbia with a Fiction... Writing degree and returned to Kansas City. I worked for Habitat for Humanity for a few years as well as several other part-time jobs. During this time I also self-published five works of fiction and nonfiction. I began my first graduate degree in 2014 at UMKC, graduating in 2017 with an MFA in Creative Writing and Media Arts. I began my second graduate degree immediately after this and graduated in 2020 with an MA in Teaching. After two years teaching English and Creative Writing at Crossroads Preparatory Academy, I began teaching middle school and high school English and Creative Writing at Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts in 2023.read more
