My high school curriculum included Beginning Spanish, all the way up to Honors Spanish Literature, so I have ... experience in learning the grammar and functions of the language, reading Spanish literature, and writing full analytical essays in Spanish. Hello, I'm Owen! I'm a born-and-raised San Franciscan studying economics with a minor in Spanish at UC Berkeley. I'm excited to be tutoring in Spanish, Algebra 1 and 2, Art History, American History, ... English, and SAT Reading! I've been tutoring ever since I was in middle school and have always been passionate about working with kids. Through my time at the YMCA, where I worked as a summer counselor for three years, I have demonstrated experience working with kids of various ages in order to ensure that they (and their parents/guardians!) have the best experience possible. I think the best way to approach tutoring is through communication and mutual respect. As a kid, I always respected the adults who took the time to truly listen to and understand me, and made my opinions and thoughts feel valuable. I will be bringing a similar mindset to tutoring, where my main focus is to build students' confidence and engage them in learning in a way that feels rewarding, so that they can build their study habits and knowledge to the point that they don't need a tutor anymore! As someone who attends, and has attended, rigorous schools, I know how it feels to struggle and feel "behind" my peers.
