I have a Master's of Fine Arts in Music Performance and Composition from the California Institute of the Arts, and Bachelor's in Music Performance in Viola from the University of Michigan. I have 9 y... ears of experience as a private instructor for Violin and Viola, and have 6 years of experience teaching Violin, Viola, and composition workshops with major arts organizations in the Los Angeles area, including the Harmony Project Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Music and Art School. Additionally, I have taught college-level music theory skills to undergraduate students as a temporary adjunct faculty member at the California Institute of the Arts. My violin and viola students have been awarded ABRSM certificates with distinction, the highest level of achievement. As a composer, my works have been performed by the Contemporary Choral Collective of Los Angeles (C3LA), and the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra. read more

Hi! I'm Patrick - I have a strong passion for performing, creating, and sharing music. I also have a strong interest in nature and the outdoors, and will occasionally bring this element into my musica... l teachings, having students listen closely to their environment as well as to their instrument. My teaching practice is informed by student-centered learning and development. I believe strongly in identifying the path the student wishes to take within music and bringing them to that point rather than imposing directions unrelated to the interest of the student. That being said, I am also committed to high caliber learning and performance practice.
