About
Hi, I'm Audrey!
I’m currently a high school biology teacher at George Washington HS, a school part of CPS. I got my teaching certification in Secondary Education for Biology at the University of Illi... nois Urbana-Champaign.
I am here because I love learning and teaching. There's so much to learn in the world, and I love sharing my knowledge with others. I often tell students that topics can be hard, but the key is how they are taught. I like to present a topic in an interesting way because it's much easier to learn if the student is engaged and intrigued. We all learn differently which is why I love differentiating and accommodating for each student based on their needs and interests.
I have been tutoring for about 5 years now and I have taught many subjects at many levels (mainly 5th-13th grade). In addition, I have taught in-person as well as online. I specialize in math (geometry, algebra, statistics, calculus) and science (biology, forensics biology, basic chemistry) but I can also help students in high school with most subjects such as English, social studies like History and Psychology, college essay writing, college exams like PSAT and SAT and ACT.
Outside of tutoring, I love weightlifting, rock climbing, dancing, hiking, spending time outdoors (in nature), and doing arts and crafts (tutees are welcome to ask me about any of these things!)
I think something that makes me stand out is that 1) I'm quite flexible and open-minded when it comes to hours and what topics to tutor you on, 2) I'm a certified teacher so I've taken many education classes like how our brains learn and how to engage with students, and 3) I have lots of cool college experiences that I can share with students such as being a resident advisor, being a mentor who helps biology freshman students, and doing my independent research project about honey bees.
Feel free to contact me for additional questions or schedule a lesson with me!read more
