I was born in America to parents who immigrated from China. Spending my early ch... ildhood with my grandparents in China, I learned Mandarin Chinese as my first language and it is an integral part of my family heritage. After returning to the United States for school, I regularly attended Chinese language immersion classes on the weekends and speak both Chinese and English at home. I often spent my summers with my relatives in various Chinese cities, being exposed to dialects from all over the nation. In ninth grade I took the AP Chinese test, scoring a 5. I am a giant language nerd and enjoy learning about the complexities of this unique language. I have native-level pronunciation and good conversational skills. My upbringing in the United States and native-level proficiency in English make me a good fit for tutoring a native speaker of English in Chinese as I understand the struggles they may face from their point of view. Chinese and English are such uniquely different languages, and having an intricate understanding of the inner workings and cultural background of both is necessary for one to learn Chinese well.
