Hi, my name is Matt Ornstein

0:03

and I'm here on Lesson Pal teaching bass guitar

0:07

that's right here, seventies P bass, uh, guitar.

0:12

I've got my Stratocaster in the other room.

0:14

Um, if you wanna work together on piano,

0:17

if you wanna work on music production, if you wanna learn

0:19

to sing, we can work on that too.

0:21

Just a little bit about me.

0:23

I've been teaching since 2010, so I've been teaching

0:28

for about 13 years.

0:29

I've taught private lessons, uh, I've taught groups.

0:32

I've taught students who are, uh, in preschool.

0:36

I've taught students who are in their seventies,

0:38

and I've taught everybody in between.

0:40

I love working with everybody.

0:42

Um, been playing music since I was four, so

0:46

I consider myself a music lifer.

0:49

I studied at Oberlin Conservatory of Music,

0:52

and I got my degree in Bass performance.

0:54

Uh, I studied with Peter Dominguez

0:56

and I studied with Eddie Gomez, who played bass

0:59

with Bill Evans, um, which was a, a real, a real experience.

1:04

I'll, I'll tell you, um, when I got outta college,

1:08

I worked in Chicago as a bass player, um,

1:12

as a guitarist, as a composer.

1:14

And I moved to Los Angeles about seven

1:19

or eight years ago to pursue bass composition.

1:23

I write for film, um, guitar and music production.

1:28

So I do a lot of work as a session player in town.

1:30

I still teach. I keep a pretty active schedule.

1:33

I love working with students.

1:35

I love connecting, I love bonding over music.

1:38

Um, I love hearing what you're listening to

1:42

and a lot

1:44

of my teaching philosophy involves taking the music

1:47

that you like and using it to teach,

1:50

teach you the fundamentals of playing music,

1:52

which translate across just about any genre.

1:55

Um, I've played just about every genre,

1:59

and I can say that for sure.

2:00

Having good music fundamentals is never a bad thing,

2:04

and learning them from the songs

2:05

that you love is a lot of fun.

2:07

So I would love to do that with you.

2:10

Um, I'd love to help you learn

2:13

whatever it is you wanna learn.

2:15

I'd love to help you develop a deeper relationship

2:20

with your instrument and a deeper connection

2:22

with music in general.

2:24

So if you wanna work together, if you like what you hear,

2:27

um, please reach out on Lesson Pal,

2:31

and let's, let's go from there.

2:34

I really hope we can work together. Thank you.
