Hi everyone. My name is Maddie. Thank you so

0:03

much for considering me as a tutor. I am

0:06

currently a second year at the University of Chicago. Although I

0:11

am originally from the Washington DC area.

0:14

And a few random facts about me are that

0:18

my favorite food is probably a burger

0:21

and a TV

0:24

show. I'm watching right now that I'm really enjoying it's stranger things.

0:27

and

0:28

My favorite activity is definitely going on long bike

0:34

rides in new places.

0:35

So inside the classroom, I'm a chemistry and pre-med

0:40

major with a

0:43

minor in the health and Society anthropology

0:46

track, which means that I kind of

0:48

like to get my hands dirty in a little bit of everything.

0:51

One thing that I definitely wanted to talk about was the fact

0:57

that I wasn't always interested in stem. And actually

0:60

that Math and Science were really difficult for me

1:02

in elementary and middle school as I

1:06

got older. However, I realized that

1:10

it wasn't the

1:11

subject matter itself. That was causing me so many

1:15

challenges, but actually the fact that I hadn't met

1:18

a mentor who had really clicked

1:20

with my learning style.

1:21

Um, so once I got to high school, I was

1:25

able to seek out teachers who understood that

1:29

I was a kinesthetic learner, which means that I'm very Hands-On

1:32

and put it who

1:34

put in a lot of patience and time and to see me succeed. So

1:38

part of the reason that I am so

1:41

invested in tutoring is because it gives

1:43

me the opportunity to return the favor and it

1:47

gives other people the confidence to explore

1:50

challenging in new fields.

1:51

I've informally tutored.

1:54

My peers and younger students through babysitting volunteer

1:59

work and leading discussion sections and

2:02

through the process. I've met people

2:05

with all sorts of learning styles including visual auditory

2:09

verbal and

2:12

kinesthetic like myself.

2:13

So as your tutor, I not only believe in teaching

2:18

you specific material, but also helping you to learn what teaching

2:20

style learns best.

2:21

As well as long-term study strategies that can

2:24

help you out in other disciplines.

2:25

If I sound like the right fit for

2:28

you, then please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I'd really

2:32

love to hear from you. Thank you.
