If I were given an option to teach any academic school subject, I would still choose to teach English. I actually always wanted to be an English Teacher. I have always excelled in English class growi... ng up, and being a native speaker helps, however my love for reading and writing poetry and stories just deepened. When I got into high school, I would help my classmates with their work, as I had always finished mine. First, I love helping people understand grammar, stories, and the importance of literature better. Helping people understand ideas in a different way that worked for them made me joyful. Soon, I realized that if helping these people learn in a way that clicked for them could make me that happy, I knew this meant that I wanted to teach. Being a teacher, in my eyes, is more than just having kids come into a classroom and become zombies while the instructor drones on and on about their taught subject, as I have experienced. Teachers who do this are not actually teaching, they are making learning harder and less interesting to the students. Teaching is about helping students actually become interested and connected with what they are being taught. I'm very passionate about teaching. Showing these students how to read, write, and create their own stories or ideas, is very important to me. In my classroom, students will learn their own minds and creativity.
