I attended the University of Notre Dame, where I obtained both my undergraduate and graduate degree. As an undergraduate, I completed a minor in Education, Schooling, and Society, where I focused on i... dentifying strategies to improve the equity and equality of education in the US. When working towards my masters degree, I had to complete a thesis, which focused on the correlation between the health of people living with HIV and the distance traveled to healthcare facilities. After college, I spent several years working as an educational assistant, helping elementary and middle school students master their skills in English and math. In one year, I help a fifth grader move from a third-grade reading level to a fifth-grade reading level. I also assisted students with IEPs and 504 plans. During the past several years, I have served as an essay specialist, assisting high school students in the different steps required to write their college application essays. Hi! I'm Kaila! I'm a Cleveland native! I grew up infatuated with the outside world, collecting frogs, bees, and more. I found the delicate relationship between the species in my ecosystem fascinating.... As I grew up, my interests bled into my academics. The more I understood the world of math, the better I was able to interpret the various concepts in science. In college, I took as many science classes as possible, but that wasn't. I craved a more direct way to impact others, so I minored in Education, Schooling, and Society. Little did I know that this minor would significantly influence how I viewed education. The lack of equity in the US education system is why I am interested in helping others with their academic pursuits. I enjoy the hands-on approach that tutoring allows me. Unlike a traditional classroom experience, I can quickly and effectively provide student-based help, creating lessons tailored to each student. Outside of working as an essay specialist, I am a professional hurdler and avid gardener. My goal is to try out for the 2024 Olympics this June for the US Team!read more
