Hey! My name is Joshua Griffin. I have been playing saxophone for 7+ years. I've been adjudicated at the county and statewide festivals, and have received superior ratings every time. I have been acce... pted into many honor bands, including the Maryland All-State Senior Honor Band. I have a great passion for teaching, and I will be studying Music Education at the University of Maryland starting the Fall 2022 semester. I love all kinds of music such as jazz, classical, hip-hop, R&B, etc. Aside from playing and teaching, I am a songwriter/singer(not really good on the singing part, but I'm trying!) and a producer. I also love skateboarding, playing soccer, and making videos/short films. I will start our lessons by addressing what needs to be worked on the most. We will use exercises from saxophone method books. We will go over the fundamentals of great saxophone playing, like articulation, dynamics, rhythms, etc. I also try to make it known to my students that learning how to play music, let alone an instrument, should be fun. So, I try to have my students play some of their favorite music to keep things lighthearted.read more
