I have studied the subject of biology since junior year of high school, making it six years as of this year. I took Advanced Placement biology in high school and received the highest score of 5 on the... AP test. I am currently a Biology - Physiology major at the University of Washington and have completed the three introductory biology courses, which go over evolution, mendelian genetics, proteins, central dogma, and physiological mechanisms. In these classes, I received an GPA of 3.86. In addition to this, I have taken a genome class and three classes of organic chemistry. Hi! I'm Janice, and I'm a Biology student at the University of Washington but am originally from Bay Area, California. In my courses in college, I have been able to offer my guidance to other students... by working with them to solidify their understanding on difficult topics. I believe that anyone is able to be successful in biology when they are given the proper time, practice, and exposure to the content. I highly value the concept of wrestling with the question and truly going through content in depth to allow full understanding of concepts and ideas rather than rote memorization and brute force repetition. Biology and chemistry are hard and can take a lot of time to understand, but I think that these subjects are fascinating and definitely make me appreciate more about life and creation, and I hope you will be able to see this as well! Outside of my studies, I enjoy working with my hands whether that be baking, playing piano, or crocheting. I also love a good book and spending time with friends.
