I've been playing music since I was about five years old, starting with guitar, then piano, trumpet, and finally bass for the past nearly five years. I've played in two local bands as a bassist in my ... college town, I played with a band temporarily in Kathmandu as a bassist when I recently studied abroad there, and have successfully taught multiple friends and family members how to play the electric bass guitar over the course of the past year. I am knowledgeable on techniques and how to teach someone who has never even played an instrument in their life, beginning with explanations of how to read bass tabs, how to adjust hand and wrist placements for specific tones, how to count out music, and how to listen to a song and figure out how to play it by ear. Hi! I'm Codi, a third-year college student at the University of Oregon receiving my bachelor of science in psychology with a minor in audio production. I'm originally from Los Angeles but grew up main... ly in Austin, TX. Though I have many interests such as painting, cooking, reading, and hiking, my biggest passion is music. I first started playing music when I was about five years old and got my first guitar and have since cycled through four different instruments before finally settling on my true sonic love: bass guitar. Since beginning bass in my junior year of high school, I've played in multiple live bands and love to collaborate musically with others! I love how music can bring people all over the world together like nothing else, and that is especially true through teaching music. My tutoring philosophy is based on the same philosophy as my first guitar and piano teachers – providing my students with encouragement and support without judgment. It's my goal to constantly provide my students with a safe space where they know that no question is a dumb one and that it's my job to make sure they understand every element of what I'm teaching.
