Multi-instrumentalist, Multimedia Producer, Touring Artist from BAHIA!

Hello there! I am head over heels about music. Been deeply in love with this beautiful form of self expression since a very young age. I've always enjoyed making music out of words and melodies I heard throughout the day, and still do; I hear music all over the place, in every circumstance I'm a part of. I like nostalgia, feel-good vibes, and relaxation. I like to play with how the waveforms hit the body. Since we are mostly made out of water, and water responds to vibrations(physically and energy wise) so easily, I like and want to make music that resonates with people and makes them feel themselves in a special sort of way. I like to call it Music for Cure, connecting people with themselves therefore generating connections between the different selves. A sense of uniqueness and belonging all at once. Genre wise, I don't feel like I fit specifically in a single one or a couple, but have an influence of diverse genres in a synergetic embrace. Everyone has a creative stance, and there are many ways of manifesting these creations. When I hear music at a live concert or when I am making a playlist( I have over 170 unique playlists, it is a dear hobby of mine), I have a tendency to primarily recognize the intentions and sentiments performed in the song other than technicality and instrumental proficiency. The primary contact to music occurs within the body( vibrations in our bodies of water, remember?), therefore it is a feeling, an energy. I use this to recognize prospective musical gems. Uniting my love for music, healthy amount of attention to detail, desire to collaborate and see people develop their talents, while I develop my own skills… It all sounds like a good deal. And that is how I take on empowering youth and giving them a hand in recognizing their own skills, disintegrating all self-judgement and encouraging positive developmental behavior as well as a chance to believe and succeed!

Guitar/Bass Lessons with Seasoned Professional

As the son of a piano teacher, I have been around music my whole life. While my first first musical training was, not surprisingly, on piano, it was the discovery of my uncle's Beatles vinyl record collection that sparked my life-long enthusiasm for playing guitar, writing and singing songs. The appeal of The Beatles’ music was, that with a Mel Bay chord book and repeated listening, I could enjoy the thrill of playing along with the records! Playing trumpet in the school band furthered my musical education and though self-taught (and by ear only) on guitar, at age 16 I came to the conclusion that music was my vocation. Enrolling at University of North Texas in Jazz Studies, I quickly discovered how much I had yet to learn. I am a graduate of the University of North Texas, where I completed a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies. After taking a year off, I returned to pursue a Master of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance, during which time I began teaching while completing my studies at U.N.T., serving as Graduate Teaching Fellow. I have taught private bass and class guitar, music theory, music appreciation, and Jazz ensemble at Tarrant County College and El Centro College. I am currently an instructor in beginning class guitar at North Lake College, private guitar/bass lessons and Guitar Ensemble at Brookhaven College. I also have three years' experience teaching private lessons online. Owing to my diverse musical tastes and background, I strive to keep students motivated by playing the music that they love, while imparting the fundamentals of music theory as well as the physical mechanics of playing an instrument. In addition to performing solo classical engagements, I also play guitar with '60s British Invasion band Revolution 9, electric bass with 60's/70's Top 40 cover band Darkest Before Dawn, as well as electric and classical guitar in the vocal Jazz trio Independently Blue. I also record in my home studio, playing bass, guitar and keyboards .

Student-centric and versatile multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and recording artist

What is the function of the bass in a band and why is it the MOST important instrument? With tutoring in Bass, we work on the fundamentals of dexterity in each hand and the position of the body to execute beginning to advanced concepts and put it all together for efficient music-making through the Gentle Release Model and Universal Backwards Design approaches that are incorporated for self-efficacy. My expertise in the field of music and education is wide-ranging and allows for students to set, achieve, and exceed goals quickly. As an experienced recording artist and producer, I've composed and performed in all genres. From Musical Theater to Latin Jazz, Big Band Jazz to Heavy Metal, they all use the 12-note scale and vertical/horizontal grids with instrument-intuitive techniques to compose. Since I am a multi-instrumentalist and advanced music theoretician, helping students learn how to make music through their own bodies and instruments is something I am very passionate about. If I am ever asked what instruments I play, I stick to the main 5 that I play professionally consistently: guitar, bass, piano, flute, and voice. In education, I have taught any and all kinds of music classes with during and after school programs for grade PreK-high school, as well as professional development for classroom teachers in music integration practices across the US in-person and online. I have extensive experience with private lesson instruction and have been consistently tutoring one-on-one for 26 years with the past 5 years being exclusively online. When I continued my own education with a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, it was to focus on online education techniques for all ages. With innovative technologies constantly evolving, I love keeping up with the different hardware and software that allows myself and students to execute amazing music-making no matter where we are!

Clarinet/Bass Clarinetist

I am a two-time Grammy nominated clarinetist/bass clarinetist with 30 years of private teaching experience of all levels and ages. I hold a Doctoral degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and have taught at major universities including Louisiana State, University of Virginia, and Michigan State. I play a wide variety of styles in solo, chamber, orchestral, and contemporary ensembles nationally and internationally. “I believe in nurturing students as individuals; that each student possesses his or her own set of skills, background, challenges, and strengths, and recognizing these unique qualities, which contribute to the sound we create and the phrases we communicate, is vital for guiding students toward successfully meeting their goals. I encourage curiosity and musical risk-taking, and feel a responsibility to supply each student with the tools necessary to eventually become their own “best teachers.” By mentoring students through their approach to practice, I stress the importance of small and large goal-setting and guide them steadfastly through this process. Quality and versatility of sound are virtues that I hold in high esteem, serving as a path toward the broadest spectrum of expressive range. The foundation necessary to showcase a captivating sound is most appropriately achieved through simultaneous and diligent attention to fundamentals such as technique, rhythm, pitch, articulation, and voicing. I stress the value of versatility in today’s rapidly transforming world and encourage students to embrace challenges in order to grow and learn, and to cultivate one’s own musical voice.

Bass Tutor

Hello, My passion is bass! All things bass guitar. I want to teach you what you want to learn, at your pace, and I want you to be excited about playing this amazing instrument. The goal that I want is for you to want to pick up the bass after a lesson, and try to play as much as possible. If you learn just one thing or two, during your lesson, that is a great start. Practice that and own that. Here is more about my background and my bio- I have taught at brick and mortar music school, and I’m very familiar with video lessons. I have always enjoyed writing poetry and lyrics, and playing my guitar. I completed a rock opera concept album in 2018, with the help of several musicians. The Technolution is a futuristic rock concept album about the rise of AI, and how we deal with emerging technology, and how that affects our lives. I published my first book of poetry in 2020. Behind The Words is a compilation of 25 poems that deal with major events that we all have experienced over the past 25 years. It’s available on Amazon, and you can also read all of the poems, lyrics. art, and music, on my website, www.behind-the-strings.com I have also released an album in 2021 called Dreaming Beyond Days, and 6 singles over the past four years. In 2020, my poem was included in the San Diego poetry challenge compilation through the San Diego Commission of the Arts. In 2020, my song, entitled 8 Minutes, was released as part of the Demos for A Difference compilation. I continue to write music, and I am looking forward to playing music for you this year.
