About
Hi! I am Ayesha Weerakoon. I moved to the USA in December 2021. I lived in Sri Lanka and completed high school in my home country. Because of the pandemic, I could not start my university life in Sri ... Lanka even though I was selected for my dream university because the majority of Sri Lankan students could not afford laptops and good internet connections to use online platforms. After I moved to the USA, I was able to start my college life at Louisiana State University in the fall of 2022.
During the pandemic, I self-taught painting with the help of YouTube, and it is my new favorite hobby. Other than that, I love listening to pop music and watching anime and various TV series.
I started tutoring in 2018 and continued until 2021. I started with tutoring Mathematics and science for grades 8, 9, 10, and 11 students and then I started tutoring Chemistry and Biology for grades 12 and 13 students in Sri Lanka. During that time, I got a chance to work as a substitute Science teacher for grades 9, 10, and 11 in Dikkapitiya Maha Vidyalaya in Sri Lanka.
Tutoring is full of responsibilities and challenges, but I enjoyed it a lot. It helped me to increase my knowledge of Chemistry and find easy methods to do calculations quickly. I believe that is the main reason for me to take As in College for Chemistry subjects and Calculus. I met students with different personalities and had to adjust to their tempers. I am most proud of myself because I was able to make friendly relationships with my students and control myself.
I can't wait to reconnect with students again in the USA with you! It will be a different challenge for me.read more
