Rose Gause
Parkville, MD

Experienced Journalist, Creative Writer, Elementary Teacher Aide and Reading Enthusiast

Hi! My name is Rose, I love reading and helping students not only become better readers and writers, but also have an appreciation for it. I've loved reading since I was a child. I enjoy introducing students to new novels along with books I used to love to help them reach their reading goals. Typically, I like to incorporate reading into my teaching plan regardless of if the student's goal is to become a better reader or writer. Reading helps students subconsciously become better writers by exposing them to new vocabulary, sentence structures and new ideas. I also like to use nonfiction and fictional stories. This allows students to use practical insight as well as their imagination because both are needed to be strong writers.   I'm currently an elementary teaching aide. I work with 3rd through 5th grade in the classroom setting and one-on-one. In addition, I'm a virtual substitute with Amplify, which is a literacy program that uses phonics instruction. I also participate in their monthly trainings. I graduated cum laude from Frostburg State University with a major in mass communication and double minors in journalism and public relations. While in college, I was an entertainment writer for the school newspaper and the writer for the Social Marketing Team. I studied journalism abroad and wrote a published feature story. I also volunteered abroad and taught underprivileged students ages 5-7 in a summer camp. I believe everyone can have love for reading and writing if you have the right materials and comprehension skills. As a tutor, I want to share my passion with others and help them with their studies/creativity. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
