Adrian RebolledoLong Beach, CAEmpty your mind and think about one's emotions when reading a text..
Since my first year at Cerritos Community College and towards my last year at CSUDH, I have had fun learning about different authors and poets. There were various Genres, from mystery, romance, death, nature (life), etc. Initially, I struggled to understand how to analyze English Lit texts. Still, various professors advised me to think about what made the story clear and what is the main argument I wanted to talk about within any Literature text. There are no right or wrong answers if I have a strong opinion about an idea; I have to make a clear outstanding argument about what I want to say and provide textual evidence to support it. That is the main goal I have learned when learning various English Lit texts, etc. The same goes for reading plays and poetry; everything has to be read carefully, and what you understand can be the main idea of a strongly developed paper, and that way, your writing skills can improve. I want to help students struggling to understand any Literature text. It can be from stories, plays, poetry, etc. I would also advise them to trust their instinct if they have an idea in mind about any text, not be afraid to use it, and find textual evidence to support their argument; that way, their paper will receive a high grade. Always proofread and make sure the citation is correct in MLA style, etc.
