MA in Creative Writing from Ivy League Institution, Published Author

I have enjoyed writing ever since I was a child, and although I held a knack for science and majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in undergrad, my creative bent and love for writing drove me to go on and obtain a Master's degree in Creative Writing from Dartmouth College. A highlight of my time in grad school was the creative writing summer intensive at Oxford University Exeter College that I was selected to attend. Since then I've published a fiction novel entitled /Call of the Song Sparrow/, and I've had some of my poetry published in journals/anthologies. I truly enjoy the proofreading and editing process that goes in to fine-tuning a finished work--whether it be an essay, a report, creative writing, or some other form of written work. During grad school, I worked as co-editor for the MALS Quarterly Journal, assisting those who had pieces selected for publication in editing and re-working their pieces so that they were publication-ready. Additionally, I have assisted other authors in the editing and revision processes for their books and short stories prior to publication. I have always enjoyed working with students; during an undergrad exchange program at Spelman College, I volunteered in a fourth grade classroom at M. Agnes Jones Elementary as a student aide twice a week. Working alongside the students, helping them understand concepts in science was not only rewarding, but also a growth opportunity for me that allowed me to learn how best to present potentially "boring" information in a fun, comprehensible way that young minds could most readily grasp.

College mentor engaging and Personalized Elementary (K-6th) Tutor with a passion

Apart from my official credentials as an Elementary Math tutor, I have practical expertise outside of the classroom. I have a special background in child care because I have a lot of experience watching babies. Tutoring children and helping them with their arithmetic assignments allowed me to easily incorporate educational support into my daycare experiences. In addition to providing a secure and caring atmosphere, I learned how crucial it is to encourage a good attitude toward learning when babysitting. I would take the effort to get the kids involved in educational activities, paying special attention to their homework in math. I learned a lot from this practical experience about how to modify my teaching strategies to fit the unique learning preferences and styles of each student. My dual role as a babysitter and tutor allowed me to develop a patient and supportive teaching style, crucial in maintaining a conducive atmosphere for learning. I honed my ability to explain complex math concepts in a way that was accessible and engaging for children of varying ages and skill levels. Moreover, my commitment to continuous improvement was evident even during these informal tutoring sessions. I constantly sought creative and effective ways to make math enjoyable, incorporating games and real-world examples to reinforce understanding. The positive feedback from both parents and children served as a testament to the success of my approach. By choosing me as an Elementary Math tutor, students not only gain access to my formal education and expertise in the subject matter but also benefit from my practical experience in making learning a positive and enriching experience. My unique blend of childcare and tutoring experiences positions me as an educator who not only imparts knowledge but also inspires a genuine love for learning in young minds.
