Full-Time Business Manager & Part-Time Professor - Offering Business/Accounting/Math Tutoring

Hi, my name is Jen and I am a full-time accountant and part-time professor who loves to work individually with students to help them succeed in their courses. My motto is that learning is "Mind Over Matter". I like to start with understanding what a student currently knows to build up their confidence and establish a base. Through the use of questioning techniques, students will actively be involved in their learning by providing responses to prompts as we walk through lessons personalized to students' individual needs. In lessons, I use real-life examples and applications to help students relate more to the materials. At the end of each lesson, I ask the student to summarize what we covered to test their understanding and continue to build up confidence focusing on the positive! I currently teach part-time as a professor in higher ed at an R1 research institute. I have privately tutored students for over 10 years in subjects such as Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Finance, Microeconomics, and Macroeconomics. Having my B.A. in Business Administration and Accounting, M.S. in Accounting and Business Advisory, and certificates in Forensic Accounting and Internal Auditing, allows me to have the knowledge and experience necessary to work with higher ed and high school students. Working as a full-time accountant allows me to use real-life industry examples for student applications.

Writing/Reading Tutor to help you BEAT THE SAT's!!!

I am a Princeton Review Certified SAT tutor with several years experience tutoring students from diverse educational and socioeconomic backgrounds on all sections of the test. I have worked for A-List Education, Catalyst Prep, and the Yleana Leadership Foundation where I honed my tutoring skills; developed a strong understanding of the SAT and various strategies to navigate it; and formulated my own teaching style rooted in actionable tools, clarity, compassion, and facilitator-based learning. Additionally, I am a skilled communicator whose expressive talents as a performer enable me to connect authentically with students and teach information in a clear and compelling manner. I understand that a successful teacher must build a genuine relationship with the student that is built on trust and genuine connection. My background as an artist has equipped me with the necessary tools to facilitate a compassionate and open dialogue between teacher and student. I believe it is this type of approach to teaching that allows a student to really receive the material, internalize it, and ultimately apply it when needed. With regards to my writing skills, I have always had a natural facility for language and written communication. I am an avid reader and writer, having written countless analyses of scripts and books for my work as a development associate with my current job at a production/management company. And my experience learning content and strategy with different tutoring companies has given me a robust understanding of language mechanics and the effective expression of ideas as tested on the SAT. Finally, I have a real passion for teaching that arises from a genuine desire to help students discover their potential and build confidence that extends beyond the SAT and academic pursuits. I believe that this work can truly inspire a self-assurance and tenacity that students can carry with them through their lives.
