Hey there, fellow music enthusiasts! Are you ready to dive deep into the magical world of Music Theory? Well, you've come to the right place! Let me introduce myself and why you should choose me as your Music Theory tutor. First things first, I've been on this musical journey for 14 years now. Yep, that's over a decade of exploring melodies, harmonies, rhythms, and everything in between. But it's not just about the years; it's about what I've learned along the way. I had the incredible opportunity to study at a prestigious musical high school in the heart of Venice, Italy. That experience wasn't just about playing instruments; it was about delving into the theory behind the music we love. From classical compositions to modern beats, I've seen it all and studied it all. So, what makes me stand out as a Music Theory tutor? Let me break it down for you: I Speak Your Language: Being a student myself, I get it. Music Theory can seem daunting and confusing. But fear not! I know how to explain those tricky concepts in a way that clicks for you. No more staring blankly at sheet music or scratching your head over chord progressions. Tailored Just for You: Everyone learns differently, and that's okay! Whether you're a beginner picking up your first instrument or a seasoned musician looking to expand your knowledge, I've got you covered. My lessons are customized to your skill level, interests, and learning style. Passion for Sharing: Music isn't just a hobby for me; it's my passion. I live and breathe this stuff, and nothing brings me more joy than sharing that passion with others. Get ready for some seriously enthusiastic lessons!

Senior Literature Student

Ever since I was little I was infatuated by history and the immense scope of fascinating characters snd stories it has to offer. I would sit for hours reading about historical events and people that interested me. First, I started reading about inventors, I was very curious, I wanted to know the origins of everything, I wanted to be the kid-encyclopedia, every chance I got I would tell my friends all about the things I learned. I'd say something like "Did you know Nikola Tesla fell in love with a pigeon?" or "Do you know about Napoleon's bees?", waiting for them to say 'no' so that I could tell them all about it, I always loved telling a good story, and wasn't afraid to delve deeply into a new subject. In high school I was a pretty good student when it came to most of my classes but history was the only one where the teacher would tell me to not come to the tests because I'd already passed. Sometimes much to the chagrin of my schoolmates. In college, where I'm currently in my senior year of studying literature, I took a few history classes, acing all of them. Earlier this year I won an award for a short-story I wrote, while this is not directly related to history, I think that the way you talk about something is integral. What I noticed throughout my studies, when it comes to history, is that a given subject is only as interesting as the delivery of the teacher, or rather every story, and history is the greatest story of them all, needs a good storyteller. Someone who loves to tell, not just transfer information. I would love to share my knowledge with you and more than this, I'd love to talk about it with you. If you've wanted to know history but have only found yourself yawning in history classes with sleepy professors, then this is a great opportunity for you to learn something and have fun on the way too.

Student-Focused International Educator

I am trained in Math Instruction from K-8 and have built inquiry-based math programs at the 5th - 8th grade levels, including virtual and Project-Based Learning programs in middle school. During my years teaching in Brooklyn, all of my 3rd and 5th grade students all passed the NY State Math Exam. While working at the American School of Tangier, I taught math grades 5-7 while redesigning the math program and helping all teachers improve their instruction in order to re-align our curriculum and improve the school's math program. I always strive to create authentic and memorable math experiences for my students through experience, pedagogical knowledge, and innovation. I have employed a wide array of digital resources and tools to create scaffolded learning progressions with a mix of synchronous and asynchronous learning. For example, in a statistics unit for grade 7, students engaged with data from previous pandemics to make recommendations for governments facing different pandemic scenarios. For our subsequent probability unit, I utilized online activities from websites like Desmos and Geogebra as formative tools, as well as Google Drawing tools for students to create and design math-based strategies for virtual versions of board games like Catan. The following year, as our students prepared to return to in-person school, they designed and made plans for outdoor classroom spaces that could allow learning at our school to continue in the midst of a pandemic. I have worked with large populations of English Language Learners from vastly different math backgrounds, and analyzed their work and performance results to perpetually track their progress, identify knowledge gaps and alter lessons to plan for these gaps. I believe in using visual models and real-world contexts to help first develop the conceptualization of math before finding strategies to problem solve, and then build rigor and depth.
