Rebecca GoodLondon, UKKindy Phonics Teacher!
I have spent the last 3 years teaching phonics to Korean children aged 4-5 years old (international age)! I loved to see them progress in their reading and gradually learn to blend sounds together.
I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Child Development from University College London, a high ranking university in the U.K.
My approach to education is to provide engaging and fun lessons, that provide children with a functional knowledge of English. I want children to be able to use their English skills in a variety of different contexts, rather than simply passing exams.
In terms of Phonics, I teach in a systematic approach that will first teach them to understand the sounds used in the English language, whilst gradually learning to break apart and build up words. This knowledge will help them with pronunciation and developing a more neutral accent.
This approach will also allow your child to start reading faster - after we have learned the first four letters- S, A, T, P - we can start reading CVC words such as sat, tap, pat!
If you want a tutor that uses methods that are efficient, research based and takes your child's wellbeing and enjoyment into account- you have found the right person!
Hope to see you soon!
