Univeristy Student

For as long as I can remember I have had a certain knack for English, specifically reading. From a young age, I was placed in advanced reading classes and scored high on standardized testing. Once I started my high school career I continued to excel and took an AP English class. Not only do I have experience in the public school system I was also homeschooled for seven years(fourth grade to tenth grade). For my early elementary years, I attended a public school and for my junior and senior of high school, I attended a local high school. I also have years of experience working with kids. I first started volunteering with kids when I was thirteen years old. I would volunteer at my church to work with children. As I got older I continued to volunteer to work with different age groups (K-5th grade). This led to me taking on more responsibilities and leading kids in different group activities (small groups in the church setting). Once I got to high school I continued to volunteer but in addition to working with my church, I started volunteering with my local elementary school. During my time at the elementary school, I worked with the school's robotics team and helped the kids compete in FIRST robotics competitions. As a university student, I have continued to work with local schools to help children succeed. My university's ISE Chapter actually partnered with a local school in the summer of 2021 to tutor children. Now, how does this information make an impact? Well, being homeschooled has taught me how to prepare lesson plans and actively put them into action. My years of experience working with kids in various settings has taught me how to connect with them and make sure they truly understand what is being taught to them. Every child is different and they will all learn differently it is up to us (teachers, tutors, parents, etc.) to find a method that works best for them.

Energetic and Patient Game Developer/Animation Tutor

I have been teaching and tutoring Game Development for 5 years since my junior year at Cass Tech High School. I have 7 years of game development experience ever since I joined the DAPCEP summer camp program in 2014. My first experience with game design was with the game software program known as Scratch. Once I was done with the DAPCEP summer camp I started teaching myself game development and I have experience with the following engines known: Rpg Maker Mz, Rpg Paper Maker, Fighter Factory Studio, Mugen, Clickteam Fusion, Unity, and Smack Studio. During that time of teaching myself how to make games from those engines I have learned how to code, I know about the characteristics and physics of a game, and I also know how to do tons of pixel art throughout the journey in different styles. Over the 5 years, I have been teaching different kinds of students even ones with disabilities for my summer internship. I am well experienced in interacting with students, socializing with them, and even connecting with them mentally. The students I always had experienced with teaching were around the age of 14-19 and even so, I still have a great relationship with my students. In all my years of teaching and tutoring my students, it was either virtual or in-person. I have a very strong dedication to video game design/development and I would to share my experience with others and even help them bring their video games to life.

Verified Computer Science Nerd

As a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Science from The Ohio State University, where I focused on Artificial Intelligence and maintained a 3.5 GPA, I am well-prepared to teach computer science topics to students. My coursework provided me with a comprehensive understanding of key computer science concepts and technologies, including artificial intelligence, computer architecture design, operating system design, database systems, neural networking, and computer vision. Through projects and assignments, I gained hands-on experience implementing algorithms for AI, designing computer architectures, handling operating system tasks such as scheduling and deadlock, working with relational databases, and developing solutions for computer vision applications. In addition to my academic background, I have honed my skills in programming languages such as C#, C, Python, Java, and C++, building large-scale projects and maintaining codebases over extended periods. My experience includes developing custom database systems, recreating video games in C# with agile methodologies, designing and implementing a custom programming language, and creating software solutions using Python UI packages. Furthermore, my work experience as a Business Analyst at Parexel has equipped me with valuable skills in software testing, quality control, content creation, and project management. I have a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and proficiency in utilizing project management tools like Kanban, which would enable me to effectively plan and deliver instructional materials to students. As a Head Manager at Padrones Pizza, I developed leadership and interpersonal skills, overseeing a team, managing customer interactions, and optimizing operational efficiency. These experiences have enhanced my ability to communicate effectively, manage time efficiently, and adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.

Christian Mentor

Utilizing the English language through writing has been a form of expression of mine since adolescence. From pen to paper or fingers on keys, relaying messages through written words is a skillful art to consider in various areas of life. Not only has it been helpful in my experience as a student partaking in humanities courses such as Composition Coaching, Literature Across Borders, and Language and Mind. But also in communicating in modern society. From texts to tweets and other publishing on media platforms, writing has shaped contemporary culture in more ways than one. The importance of writing has taken precedence in my life since childhood, as previously mentioned, but also in my academic experiences and leisure time. I've used this time to tutor adult students working to achieve their GED, encourage high school students to complete their diploma requirements, and help working professionals seek new opportunities. As a business professional and education administrator, the tools of writing, the skills in linguistics, and the strategic placement of words are not only what I do but a part of who I am. I've reviewed hundreds of resumes sourcing candidates as a recruiter and graded various college prep assignments supporting High School English teachers. I've attended masterclasses on how to write and teach English as a professional while completing a Terminal Master's Essay to conclude a Master of Education degree program. These experiences and many others are great examples of my writing skills and qualifications for tutoring college-level writing and reviewing papers in APA/MLA style.

Education Led Creator, Self-Expansion Mentor

I have been expressing myself through art since I was a child. The passion I feel for creating has followed me into adulthood, leading me to get my Bachelors of Fine Arts with a minor in design. In the 2 years since I've graduated from university, I have gone on to gain experience with company's such as Carhartt, APPLE, Children's Defense Fund and Michigan State University. With Carhartt, I interned for the summer on the product innovation team, consisting of 2 others. We researched product quality, consumer views and brand standards to bring innovative ideas to create a more inclusive shopping experience among women. I was able to use my skills in apps like Procreate, Miro, and Keynote/Powerpoint to sketch and share ideas in our remote work environment, efficiently. Partnered with schools in Detroit, working with Children's Defense Fund allowed me to teach young children (5-8 years old) reading, comprehension, and art skills over the summer months. I am grateful to say I was able to be apart of the 2nd cohort of The Apple Developer Academy right here in Detroit. Over this year I learned to code & design apps, from brainstorm to app store! We used applications such as XCode, Swift, Miro, Figma and Sketch throughout the entire process and each tool proved to be a great asset to my toolbelt. Art is everywhere and within everything- including ourselves. The more we gain insight on the intricacies of self-expression over the years, the more we learn about what it is to be alive. It is apart of my passion to help those I am able to, grasp a colorful part of life
