English Writing, Grammar, and Literature Tutor

I have always had a love for writing which is why I decided to study English during my time at Dixie State/Utah Tech University located in St. George, UT. I will be graduating this December, of 2023, with a Bachelor of Science in English and an emphasis in Professional and Technical Writing. During my time at Utah Tech, I have worked at the Writing Center where I have helped high school students, undergraduate students, and students within the master's program improve their writing. I have also been a tutor at TechieForLife, a program for neurodivergent young adults. Currently, I am tutoring English to students of all ages that have dyslexia, and struggle with writing. I have been an editor for the Dixie Sun News, now the Sun News Daily at Utah Tech University, and I have been on the editing team for a creative writing Journal, the Route 7 Review, and an academic journal, Curiosity. I have published an instruction manual website with iFixit and have written memos, proposals, etc. in business writing. I am also a member of the Quill and Scroll with the University of Iowa. I have lots of experience in not only Professional and Technical writing, but journalism as well. Along with my love for writing also comes a love for helping others. Tutoring in English has given me the ability to use my writing skills and help others succeed in their classes so that they can understand linguistics, literature, grammar and more! I would love to continue to help others by sharing my knowledge and I would love to watch them accomplish their own challenges and goals!

USMLE Step 1 MD Tutor

I've always enjoyed teaching and simplifying complex topics. Starting as a peer tutor in high school as I tutored math, physics and Arabic, I later volunteered to help younger medical students in college. After graduation, I worked as a professional tutor in biology, pharmacology, and biochemistry for nine months during my internship. I passed the USMLE Step 1 in March 2024 and have firsthand experience with the challenges many students and graduates face during their preparation. I understand how to manage anxiety, stay motivated, and handle time effectively, which allows me to support you through these common obstacles. In our first session, the main focus will be on you. I want to understand your story, where you are in your preparation journey, and identify any potential obstacles. After hearing your experience, we'll work together to create a personalized study plan that addresses your specific needs and goals. Our sessions will be interactive, with an emphasis on active recall techniques that help reinforce learning and boost retention. I cover all subjects of the USMLE Step 1, and I love to break down complex topics! I also teach and share useful and effective studying strategies and provide tips for test-taking. Last, I'd like to share a personal story from the day I sat for my exam. When I entered the Prometric center, I felt very confident. This confidence not only persisted throughout the exam but actually grew stronger. After submitting the sixth block and knowing I had just one more to go, I was certain I had passed. Even though I had to wait more than 14 days to see that "Pass," I wasn't consumed by anxiety. My goal is to help you have a similar experience, feeling in control throughout your preparation journey and on exam day.
