Master Math & Chinese: Fun, Personalized Lessons with Tech-Savvy Educator

I'm a software engineer turned educator. I hold a Master of Science degree from the Umass Amherst and am a native Chinese speaker who has been living, working, and homeschooling my children in the United States. I believe my unique blend of educational background and practical experience would greatly benefit you. My firsthand experience with both Chinese and American cultures allows me to provide a rich, immersive learning experience. I firmly believe that language learning extends beyond mere vocabulary and grammar; it is also a deep dive into the culture, history, and everyday life of the people who speak it. To this end, I strive to incorporate elements of Chinese culture into my lessons, providing students with a holistic understanding of the language. Moreover, my experience homeschooling my children in a bilingual environment has equipped me with effective strategies for teaching Chinese as a second language. I am well-versed in the challenges that come with learning a new language and can provide the necessary support and guidance to help students overcome these hurdles. In conclusion, I believe that my academic qualifications, coupled with my practical teaching experience, make me a strong candidate for this position. With my guidance, students will not only learn Chinese but also gain a deeper understanding of the culture and context that underpin the language.

Happy To Help, Let's Make Learning Fun!

Biology has been a natural fit for ever since I initially took my first general biology course in sophomore year of highschool. My teacher was wonderful, and he made the topic seem so interesting and made sure to explain it in a way that everyone could understand. In cases where I was confused, he would always help to clarify things. Ever since then, I have been trying to take biology courses as regularly as I can. I dual enrolled for my junior year of high school, and happily took general biology, and aced both. Since starting college, I have taken many more biology classes, since that is what I am majoring in. I have taken genetics, microbiology, environmental sustainability, and anatomy courses, and have greatly enjoyed and earned As in all of them. I took most of my biology classes alongside a friend of mine who is also a biology major, and I ended up helping tutor her through a lot of the course content. When helping her, I would think back to my high school professor and try to emulate his teaching style. I made our study sessions fun by focusing on the hang out aspect of it more than the homework, and would break things down in a way for her to understand. I found out that she really benefited from running through practice questions, so I would make sure that when we studied, I would set aside time for us to work through our assigned practice questions, to make sure I tailored my tutoring to her needs. I am excited to revisit some of the older biology topics I learned, and to help more people learn about a topic I am very passionate about.
