Paidashe HoveIndianapolis, INSeasoned microbiologist tutor & mentor
I hold a PhD in Veterinary Microbiology and possess more than 10 years of theoretical knowledge as well as practical experience in microbiology and genetics. I have even been involved with high level microlobiology resesearch. This has led to more than 10 research papers, development a new genetic identification method for certain bacteria and also a vaccine against a globally economically important bacterial disease of cattle, sheep and other ruminants called bovine anaplasmosis. During this time, I also mentored and guided postgraduate students in many theoretical and practical aspects of microbiology.
In the course of my postgraduate studies at different universities, I was able to mentor and tutor several students from different backgrounds and most of these have gone on to succeed in their studies. My current job also features a lot of instruction and training related to microbiological lab applications, and so I have honed my skills for sharing knowledge and teaching in the subject.
Importantly, what drives me to want to assist students is, firstly, that I would like to share my enthusiasm and love for microbiology. I find that once the basic understanding of how microbiology is a part of our everyday life, then the excitement and motivation to want to learn microbiology, which is crucial for excelling in the subject, will flow naturally from that.
Lastly, in addition to the above, I was guided, tutored and encouraged by more experienced, more knowledgeable people in the universities where I studied, and I would like to also help students they way I was helped. My mentors/ tutors were aIways willing to share knowledge and advice on how to succeed academically, and I feel this was an important part of my success. I also believe that student who need a helping hand with academic matters should be able to do so in a comfortable and encouraging environment, which I've been able to provide the students I have worked with.
