I took Algebra in 5th grade and progressed from there: Geometry, Algebra II, Probability and Statistics in middle school, and finally Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus I, and AP Calculus II (with the option to take Calculus III) in high school. I have received all As or A+s and passed the AP exam for AP Calculus I. I did not take the AP Calculus II exam as it was not required for my university.
In my first year at the University of Iowa, I took Statistics for Business. I was not naturally good at this kind of math (I went to tutoring, office hours, and supplemental instruction) -- to ease anyone's tension of thinking math is hard because it is even for those who have had success in the past. I ended up not only passing but finishing with an A.
I was recommended by a tutor I went to become one. I now have been participating in drop-in tutoring for Statistics for Business students for the past 1 1/2 years helping students as I was once helped. I have a passion for helping alleviating frustration and helping students build their confidence.
