Math tutor with PhD in electrical engineering, 6+ years tutoring and decades professional experience

I have been tutoring kids in math since I was literally in grade school and continued on while in middle and high school. Math has always been my best subject and I took two years of Calculus and advanced Calculus at UC Santa Barbara while I was still in high school (starting at age 15). I got A's and A+'s all 6 quarters. I have bachelors degrees in both electrical engineering and physics from UC Santa Barbara which I completed in 4 years total and a PhD in electrical engineering from UC Berkeley, emphasizing in electromagnetics. For the last 20 years I have been self employed as an engineering radar consultant to companies who need help with their radar design and processing. I have tutored my two sons since they were in kindergarten until they both passed the AP Calculus exams (they are currently graduate students in chemistry and biology), and also worked in the classrooms for 17 years, planning parties, helping in the classroom, designing outside math classes, starting the choir music boosters program at Fremont high school to finally helping any student that needed help. About 6 years ago I also started tutoring part-time for Wyzant, tutoring in everything from kindergarten math, to all levels of high school and college math as well as physics. I have about 1800+ hours of tutoring with a 5 star rating.

Dynamic Math and Public Speaking Tutor: Empowering Students to Excel

With a strong foundation in mathematics and a passion for teaching, I am well-equipped to tutor students in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and various grade levels of math from 3rd to 8th grade. Over the past four years, I've dedicated myself to private tutoring, guiding students through these subjects with patience and clarity. My approach involves tailoring lessons to suit each student's learning style, breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps, and providing ample practice to reinforce understanding. In addition to my math tutoring experience, I've also engaged in group tutoring sessions focused on public speaking skills for elementary school children. This experience has allowed me to develop effective communication strategies and foster confidence in young learners as they navigate public speaking challenges. My commitment to helping students succeed extends beyond academics; I aim to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel empowered to reach their full potential. Furthermore, my academic achievements, including a perfect score on the math section of the ACT and admission to Purdue University's Engineering program, attest to my proficiency in mathematics and dedication to excellence. As a member of the Speedway Team at Purdue, where we're building an IndyCar prototype for the Indianapolis Speedway Motorsport Museum, I bring real-world problem-solving skills and a collaborative spirit to my tutoring sessions. I am excited to continue sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm for learning with students, empowering them to achieve their goals and thrive academically.
