I am thrilled to still be an active educator via virtual instruction. My teaching philosophy is to pass on my passion for learning to my students. Witnessing the "Aha!" moment when a previously befuddling concept comes to life in my class is what motivates and keeps me from retirement after nearly a half-century of teaching! I have spent the past two years teaching high school Geometry through Proximity Learning, Inc. I have taught 4 sections of regular Geometry and 2 sections of Honors Geometry during that time period. Although I have taught every level of mathematics through College level Algebra II Trig, I have always enjoyed Geometry the most!
Geometry is a very powerful tool in math and science as many symmetries or how some shapes can function together leads to many calculations for both physics and engineering. I'm a sophomore studying industrial engineering and have always been told I have great people skills. I have studied calculus 1, 2, and 3, and linear algebra at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am also proficient in high school geometry, algebra, and pre-calculus. My teaching assistants have always been a huge help for me and I would love to do the same for others. I keep up with my skills as I use math in many of my other classes.

Graduated from the Southern Polytechnic School of Engineering and obtained a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kennesaw State University in Marietta, Ga, and a MS Degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics. I have used Statistics, Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, and Calculus along with Chemistry and Physics as a Mechanical Engineer student for 5 years. I fell in love with Math almost 20 years ago. I find it super fun and magical to teach math is a universal language that applies to all things in nature and in music and everything that is creative used in everyday life I love teaching math and I love seeing the connections students have with it as they excel in their studies and their academic goal students may find an appreciation and a unique understanding for a different language that exist amongst everyone.
With an A grade in high school Geometry and over three years of tutoring experience, I'm excited and ready to help my Geometry students reach new levels of understanding! There are many curriculums which incorporate Algebraic practice into Geometry, and I am capable of helping Geometry students who struggled in Algebra.
I have had about 2 years experience tutoring students in the Geometry questions of the ACT. Whether the questions are about parallel lines with a transversal cutting them into various types of angles, the Pythagorean Theorem to find the sides of triangles, the equation of a circle, or similar vs. congruent shapes and their sides or angles, I am able to guide my students to the correct answers. Geometry requires more visual skills, and I am able to tap into those strengths of most students by showing them how a concept works. However, all of these concepts are also based on logic, hence the use of proofs in many of these classes. If a student understands the logic better than the visual, I can guide them to understand the concepts that way. This subject now paves the way for me to help all of my students from Prealgebra through Calculus!

Geometry is one of my favorite area in Mathematics. I love this discipline because of its wide application in the real world. I love teaching Geometry to my students. A positive growth mentality is possibly the best instrument for studying math. Students can open themselves up to taking risks, which are crucial to learning, when they are taught to accept their mistakes and view struggle as a chance for improvement. This is true for all learners. The ability to make mistakes freely and the time to reflect are crucial components of learning in general and are often lacking in math classes. We are depriving kids of their full potential if we let them think that their errors are anything else than teaching opportunities.
I find joy in exploring and learning Geometry. My baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate are focused on Math and Geometry has a very special place in my heart. Teaching it gives me so much sense of happiness. And it is more fulfilling every time I hear students appreciating me the way I teach each geometry lesson- simple and organize.
