Noemi GarciaMelbourne, FLBachelor's Degree in Education. Spanish Tutor from Spain
I believe my EDUCATION, my EXPERIENCE, my VALUES and ACHIEVEMENTS are valuable assets to my teaching career.
This is a little bit of my background: I was born and raised in Spain and after completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Vigo, I started working as a teacher in a school and as a private homework tutor for several years.
Since I always had the dream of experiencing teaching in a different country, in 2003 I applied and was selected by the US Department of Education to participate in an Exchange Visitor Teacher Program for the state of FL. I worked as a Spanish teacher in Elementary and Midle Schools. My Bachelor's Degree in Education was validated in the United States, which I feel grateful for; this offered me the opportunity to continue working in the educational field ever since as a tutor, afterschool group leader, and ESOL multilingual assistant.
Living and teaching in the United States, also opened the doors for me to assist a wide array of students and families from multiple different backgrounds. I deeply understand what is involved in the process of learning a second language. Over the years, I have learnt to see teaching from an empathetic viewpoint, I’ve learnt adaptability putting myself in my students' shoes, focusing not only in teaching content, but also promoting students’ self confidence and sense of accomplishment.
My VALUES of teaching self-acceptance, sense of connection, trying my best in sharing a sense of curiosity, have led to my students’ academic and personal achievements, many of them graduating with outstanding GPAs, which makes me feel very proud.
