High School English Teacher who also teaches True Crime, College Applications, College Apps, Essay,

After teaching for over 23 years, I have learned that school isn't for everyone and students should not be faulted for this. Teachers need to REACH before they TEACH. Organically connecting and creating relationships with students is top priority. When teachers are placing information into our students' brains, then we need to build trust before they accept that information. Many teachers do not understand this recipe and the result can be disastrous. I take pride in the fact that I am aware of what the needs are, both emotionally and academically. I developed this new style of mentorship based off of parent frustration, under appreciated teachers, and failing students. I also know that learning takes place through various outlets. I am here to cater and tailor your experience based on what you tell me you need. I am a licensed teacher prepared to take your child to the next level. I like to call myself a, "mentor" who is here to provide guidance, advice, feedback and support, as well as serving as a role model, teacher, counselor, advisor, advocate and ally. When I pitched this idea to a few parents, teachers and most of all...our students, the reactions where overwhelmingly positive. As a result, I decided it was time to help. This system of mentorship is designed for each individual and their style of learning. I enlisted the help of my colleague, who will offer a Math mentorship, as well. We are aware of the needs of our students and want to help any way we can.

As a high school senior, I bring a unique perspective and understanding of the challenges students face in preparing for higher education and beyond. My recent experiences navigating college applications, standardized testing, and academic expectations provide valuable insights that I can share with my students. Being a senior also means I am well-versed in the latest curriculum requirements and can offer relevant guidance tailored to current high school standards. Overall, my position as a high school senior enhances my qualifications as an English Language Arts tutor by allowing me to connect with students on a peer level, understand their concerns, and provide meaningful support as they navigate their own educational journeys. My passion for journalism, evident in my commitment to extracurricular activities and leadership roles, drives my dedication to English Language Arts. Moreover, my hands-on experience with children, both through club leadership, writing for my schools newspaper, participating in essay competitions, underscores my ability to communicate effectively and cater to diverse learning styles.
