Biology is the study of living organisms and their interactions with each other and the environment. It encompasses a wide range of topics, including evolution, genetics, ecology, and cell biology.
One of the key concepts in biology is evolution, which is the process by which species change over time in response to selective pressures in their environment. Evolution is the driving force behind the diversity of life on Earth and is supported by a wealth of scientific evidence.
Genetics is the study of heredity and the variation of inherited traits. It involves the study of DNA, the genetic material that is passed from parent to offspring, and how it influences the characteristics of an organism.
Ecology is the study of how living organisms interact with each other and their environment. It examines the relationships between different species and the role they play in their ecosystem.
Cell biology is the study of cells, which are the basic unit of life. Cells are the smallest structures that can perform all the functions necessary for life. Cell biology examines the structure and function of cells, as well as how they interact with each other and the environment.
There are many other subfields of biology, including molecular biology, developmental biology, and physiology, to name a few. Together, these fields help us understand the complex processes that occur within living organisms and how they interact with each other and the world around them! And of course I’m happy to teach them.
