I come from a family who loves traveling and history! As I have always been surrounded by learning and discussing history, I consider it one of my passions.
Along with traveling to many countries and regions (South Africa, Tahiti, Jordan, France, The Caribbean, Italy, Israel, Canada, England, Mexico…), I always keep a focus on the history of the locations and how art has impacted/represented/influenced different cultures. I find that learning visually is the strongest way to comprehend history, therefore Art History is a wonderful way to contextualize the past and connect it to other cultures, movements, and events.
During my time at the University of Arizona, where I recently earned a BFA from the University of Arizona in Art and Visual Culture Education, I dove into the world of Art History as well. I am educated in early human (prehistoric) art, Ancient Egyptian and Middle Eastern art, Mexican Art in the Spanish Colonial Era, Western art including ancient Greek and ancient Roman art, Medieval, Renaissance, Romanticism, Impressionism, Modern, and Contemporary art movements.
As a practicing artist, I am constantly inspired by the Art History I learn about, especially ceramic styles, mural (frescoes), mosaics, and historic propaganda/commercial art.
