About
Hi, my name is Alex Tukamone from Zambia. I am a passionate music teacher who believes that Music is not Music unless it is shared, hence my passion to teach. I believe that everybody has a musical ta... lent, but they just learn differently. I love to explore and discover how each learner learns.
I am a schoolteacher in one of the mining towns in the Northwest part of Zambia where I teach music. It is a new town that saw an influx of many expatriates from all over the world to come and work for the new mine, hence the need for the mining firm, First Quantum Minerals FQM to establish a new school to cater to the families. The school is called Trident College (40 nationalities) and was established in 2013. (Before this, I was working for the America International School be Baobab College here in Zambia.) As a multi-instrumentalist, I was specifically hired to not only work as a class teacher but to establish a school orchestra that now has 30 players who I trained and continue to train. All players are trained from scratch. My main instrument is the piano, but in the last 10 years, there is no instrument I have had no experience teaching, except the brass. All my students are subjected to sitting for theory and practical exams from one of the world-renowned music examining bodies including Rock School, ABRSM, and Trinity, unless they do not wish to. This is to ensure that everybody is at par with world standards.
I belong to two orchestras where i play mainly the doubles bass and these are Lusaka Music Society orchestra and New Apostolic Church orchestra. I am very passionate about sharing music and my wish is that my learners become better musicians than I am.
I also have classes in the United States where I teach Music Theory and Recorders online. The school is called Healing Roots.read more
