I have studied Biology since high school. I spent a majority of college focusing on biology and ecology. I spent four years as a research assistant for a Biology professor. I presented a poster at the... Geological Society of America 2022 conference. I also wrote an undergraduate thesis based on the relation of Biology and remote sensing, environmental science, and GIS. I love the outdoors and have spent my summer working at a nature center and focusing on Biology, ecology, and the outdoors. I relayed that passion and information to about 100 students throughout a three month period. Hello! I am Alana. I was raised in Connecticut but moved to Pennsylvania in early high school. I remained in Pennsylvania until I graduated Wilkes University with my Bachelors of science in Environmen... tal Science. I focused on a concentration in Biology and received my Geographic Information System certificate. I am continuing my studies for a Masters in Environmental Science at Clark University. I spent four years as a research assistant on a gas pipeline project as well as a reforestation project. In that time I wrote my undergraduate thesis on reforestation and soil properties as well as presented at the Geological Society of America Conference. I have been a tutor since high school. I worked on tutoring all subjects to elementary and middle school students. I focused on students who needed extra help that they were not receiving at school (dyslexia, adhd, autism, etc). Recently I have been working with more middle to high school transitioning students in chemistry, biology, and environmental science. I love studying and continuously learning about the world around us so that's something I love to see students develop as well. I understand that traditional education can leave out individuals who have different learning styles and needs so I try to get to know what style works best for each student and tailor it to them rather than use one style.read more
