Hello everybody.
0:03
My name is Tess Whitaker.
0:04
I was born and raised in Burlington, Colorado,
0:08
and I attended college at Fort Hayes State University in
0:12
Hayes, Kansas between the years of 2010
0:15
and 2018, in which time I received both my Bachelor's
0:20
of Science in geology
0:21
and my master's of biology, both of which
0:24
specialized in paleontology.
0:27
At my time at Fort Hayes,
0:30
I taught the non-major students biology lab,
0:33
and this was directed more towards the students
0:36
that were not, uh, going for a biology career.
0:39
And so we talked more
0:42
of the general broad sweeping topics of biology.
0:44
I also taught the major biology students lab.
0:49
And so this was for the students that were biology majors,
0:53
and this was the introductory course that they had to take.
0:56
And so in that lab we talked more in depth detail about
1:00
the more specific topics of biology.
1:03
I also taught the anatomy and physiology labs.
1:08
And so in this lab I talked more about the, uh,
1:11
major human body systems and their functions.
1:14
And so this lab was, uh,
1:17
directed more towards the nursing students
1:20
and pre-med students.
1:22
And, um, I think that my teaching philosophy is very
1:27
hands-on and student oriented.
1:30
I love to answer student questions.
1:32
I really want them to be engaged with the topic
1:36
that's being taught, and I want them to be very comfortable
1:40
and really enjoy the subject
1:42
and the environment that they're in.
1:44
And so I am looking forward
1:46
to meeting my students here on lesson plan,
1:48
and I would encourage you to try one of my lessons here.
1:52
So you guys have a good day.
