I'm passionate about graphic design. I've been a professional designer for more than 40 years, working at top national firms, and as a sought-after consultant. I enjoy mentoring people of all ages who are eager and motivated to learn the principles of graphic design and visual communications. Graphic design is one of the oldest forms of communication. In its basic form, it predates writing. Thoughtful, creative, and well-crafted designs are an essential key to successful marketing and communication in all avenues of business. The fundamentals of graphic design span cultures and languages. Good graphic design is timeless. And, graphic design can be FUN. It can also be an outlet for both personal and professional expression. While trends and fashions in design evolve over the years, the principles of graphic design don't change. Most important for my students, I teach people not just a program. I meet people where there are in their lives, ad adapt my lessons to their needs, wants, and personal or professional goals. I live in Sonoma County, California, a region known for fine wine, nice people and a love of the arts. My hobby is cartooning. In that capacity I've been an editorial cartoonist, worked for magazines,... and created the annual posters for the local state and county fairs for many years. I love sharing my experience and skills with people of all ages who are eager to learn. My "teaching style" begins with first listening to my student and learning what makes them tick.
