About
Hi, I'm River! I am a native Virginian, but I recently moved south to be with family and to further my education. Back home, in high school, I discovered my love for language. That language was German... . At first, I struggled immensely, but because my interest peaked, I dedicated myself throughout a summer to excel. When the school year came, I was impressing my fellow students and teacher alike. The feeling of success motivated me even more, and I began to enjoy going to school every day. By the end of high school, I had passed I.B. German 6 and graduated bilingual. There's even a stamp on my diploma saying so!
After high school, I went into the workforce and began work on a construction site. Although the work was demanding, I found it enjoyable to hear Spanish being spoken on the site. I wound up learning a few basic phrases and eventually speaking Spanish every day. This became vital for me because my Spanish skills ended up giving me an opportunity as a translator on-site. This experience caused me to remember my love for language and motivated me to get my degree in linguistics.
Fast forward 2 years, and I am on track to get my degree and have been performing well in my French classes. I was doing so well in fact, that my teacher recognized this, and asked me if I would tutor at the college. I told her that I would happily be a tutor, and the rest is history. I have been tutoring for close to a year now, and I have fallen in love with watching students learn to love language the same way I did long agoread more
